U.S. Geological Survey Topographic Maps We stock over one hundred 7 ½ minute (1:24,000) and 7 ½ x 15 minute (1:25,000) quadrangles for New Hampshire, covering the Lakes Region, White Mountain National Forest (include the Maine portion), and the North Country up to the Canadian border. For “peakbagging” enthusiasts, we carry topos for all of New England's “Hundred Highest” peaks in New Hampshire, Vermont and Maine.
The majority of the quads are in the 7 ½ minute series at a 1:24,000 scale. These are flat maps measuring 22” x 27” and are sent rolled in a tube. They have either 40 or 20-foot contours. There are still a few 7 ½ x 15 minute maps that measure 24” x 40” and come folded to road map size (4” x 8 ¼”). They are metric at 1:25,000 scale with 6-meter contours and cover twice the area of a 7 ½ minute map. These maps are $6.00 each.
We also carry a number of USGS topo maps in the 1:100,000 scale for New Hampshire, Vermont and Maine. Each one of these covers a large area, equivalent to thirty-two 7 ½ minute quads. They measure 29” x 44” and come folded to 4” x 8 ¼”. They are metric with a contour interval of 20 meters. These maps provide a good overview of terrain for a large area. Price is $7.00 each.
We don’t have space to list all our USGS topographic maps here. Please call or e-mail us if you are interested in particular quads or areas.

One CD covers all the New England states plus NY, NJ, PA, OH, DE, MD, VA and WV. The maps are DeLorme's own - not as detailed or precise as the USGS maps, a tradeoff for the greater geographic coverage. You can zoom in and zoom out on the seamless maps; the contours are 50 feet, or 20 feet on the higher zoom levels. This new version of Topo USA has a shaded relief feature, automatic trail and road routing, land use cover, and more trails overlain on the maps, although like the USGS maps, some of the trails are either no longer there or are not precisely rendered. The program has many neat features: a terrific search tool, elevation profiling, customizing options for your own routes, symbols and text, and a 3-D terrain feature that is very entertaining. You can use GPS with these maps by connecting with a GPS receiver, and you can download maps and route directions to Palm Computing or Windows CE handheld computers. With the above caveats in mind, this program is very useful and alot of fun! .
